Each year brings forward new opportunity and promise however it is only through our actions that we are able to realize our potential. At the end of the first quarter of 2018 collectively with the support and encouragement of numerous friends, family and business associates I’ve completed the 5 year goal of building a sustainable business operations framework; with coverage across Canada secured we now have with the ability to scale into the United States and Caribbean markets.
Business Verticals
DMF Energy Inc. has 3 core business verticals General Contracting, Training Development and Piping Infrastructure. As a general contractor the company is responsible for the day-to-day operations and site management of building projects. Training development it is the retail distribution of online, print and in-class educational programs.
Piping infrastructure is the apprenticeship and journeyman certificate in the Steamfitter-Pipefitter trade held by me as Director DMF Energy Inc. it is the backbone of our business. The occupation of Pipefitting Supervisor according to Canadian Business Magazine in 2017 was ranked the 4th best occupation in the country that’s an increase from the 26th ranking in 2013.
Training Development
In 2012 I knew it would be in the corporations and my own personal best interest to diversify my skill-set outside of technology, finance and administration into construction. Taking the lessons learned from previous ventures in Atlantic and Central Canada applying proven methodology, cost security and scale I’m confident we made the right decision gaining the training and experience in the field and not relying on consultancy services.
The current geopolitical landscape and investment uncertainty globally has forced our business model to focus on North American opportunities for general contracting and training development; however we will remain open to international projects and opportunities that require our piping infrastructure expertise.
After successfully completing my first block of trades training at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, Alberta in May of 2017. I’m registered and scheduled to complete the final requirements of Red Seal certification in the Steamfitter-Pipefitter trade at the Nova Scotia Community College IT Campus in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia last quarter of 2018.
Proprietary Software Technology
One of the biggest projects undertaken the last year outside of market feasibility and intellectual property protection was the DMF Energy Android App. We wanted to have an application that would enable our customers the ability to facilitate employment opportunities with our partner organizations across the country. We partnered with a technology firm in Texas, United States to develop, code and complete a minimal viable product.
One of the biggest hindrance to apprenticeship completion in Canada is meeting the hourly training requirements. Our training development technology and services offer a solution to this important part of the apprenticeship process. Connecting human capital with high productivity employment opportunities is a very important part of our business offering. Moving forward will continue to work and advance on these latest developments the priority at this point is to finish technical training by the end 2018, enabling us the ability to internally finance and support future projects.
