The SDTC Cleantech Maze

Policy Publication Resources

For more background on the subject matter the following are some very important reports and publications.

Canadian Commercialization: Problems, Failure, & Research Success.

When you look at the maze of  images below you will see some of Canada’s  most proud and recognizable organizations. However, in the 2010 Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) Cleantech Report, the membership partners attained the letter grade of D for  commercialization. This is clearly unacceptable for a developed nation like Canada. The dependency we have placed on the “Crown” when it comes to “Business Development” has inhibited our country’s ability to perform and capitalize on the global growth within the Renewable and Environment sector. 64th Senate Committee on Aborginal Peoples

Senate of Canada Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.

Serving as the Federal Government Liaison for the Eastern Woodlands Metis Nova Scotia. Doing my best to help support our most vulnerable.

“Our mission with the Eastern Woodland Métis Nation is to promote and preserve the Metis identity and heritage in our community.  We strive to promote education, training, business opportunities, leadership, health and justice.  Our goal is to be economically sustainable and self‑reliant.  Our values of the ultimate authority of the Eastern Woodland Métis Nation reside with its membership.  A consensus is sought from the grassroots membership and is ensured by organizational structures that take into account traditional values that our ancestors have given to us with the belief that the whole community and not just one individual group is to be represented.  Our vision is to be self‑actualized, as laid out in the Royal Commission Report on Aboriginal Peoples”

Economic Independence and The Idea of Self Determination

In my personal opinion and experience even still today here in Canada, I find most police officers or “peace officers” still use excessive tactics of intimidation and force. I think this alienates the core rights and freedoms that are supposed to be protected under the law.

I fundamentally believe individual human rights and freedoms are worth fighting to protect, and even though institutional racism is a reality I choose NOT to turn a blind eye but instead work towards a modern solution that focuses on the self, because the system will not do it for us.

The Global Climate Breakdown?

This is image of the Arctic sea ice on September 13, 2012, the day it shrank to the smallest surface area since records began. The yellow outline shows the average sea ice minimum from 1979 through 2010. This photo illustrates what many climate scientists have been saying: global climate breakdown is proceeding more rapidly than they expected.

Key Question?

Do you think it is time for the world to mobilize to implement the solutions we already have?

Or

Is this just natures path and we have to accept the results?

The NEW “Red Tory” Political Party of Canada ?

After interviewing over one-thousand people in the last 10 months in Ottawa. I can say with strong conviction that I believe a generation of young people are going to unite for a political party in the near future. I am not talking about the NDP either. This generation will realize the power of political change and the party that they will choose just might be the Green Party of Canada. Imagine a new “Red Tory” party of Canada, replacing what used to be called the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. A party that’s fiscally conservative. A party that is socially liberal. And a party that thinks of social entrepreneurship as a true concept of business. Continue reading

UN Emergency Relief Coordinator’s Key messages on Syria

The Conflict Hits Home & In The Office

You hear politicians in Ottawa everyday talking about foreign policy, values, etc. However I had the opportunity last week to interview for myself a young man  who just arrived back to Canada a month ago after living in Damacaus, Syria for the last 15 years.

The job candidate was a first generation Canadian who was born to Syrian parents who immigrated to Canada in the 1980’s. After reviewing his profile I noticed that  he was indeed the same age as me 27.  He presented very well like a solid young professional. He had excellent work experience  and a strong educational background. Before the conflict he was working in the Aerospace industry as a flight controller, with a bright future ahead. He had a home, car, career, a family with a very bright future. However he had to leave it all behind because in the end his personal health and safety was more important then any material wealth or societal status could ever be. I came away after speaking with the candidate really wanting to know more about the situation on the ground in Syria.

Last week I watched the 60 Minutes special on the internal Syria conflict. I also followed the American presidential debate between Obama and Romney that was on foreign policy. This was done in a hope that some substantive things would be talked about however these mediums left me unsatisfied. Fortunately  I was follow @UN on twitter and was able to come across some very important information that addressed my concerns from the direct sources involved in the relief coordination.

Justin Trudeau – Federal Liberal Leadership Run

“BE PART OF THE CHANGE”

                                                 – JUSTIN TRUDEAU

“I love this country and I want to serve it. I am running because I believe this country wants and needs new leadership. As the Conservative government is taking this country in a direction most Canadians don’t want it to go, we need a vision for Canada’s future grounded not in the politics of envy or mistrust. One that understands, despite all the blessings beneath our feet, that our greatest strength is above ground, in our people. All Canadians, pulling together, determined to build a better life, a better Canada. I was born into a unique circumstance. I owe a great deal to Canada and to Canadians. I really believe in the old adage that he, to whom much is given, much is required. And I’ve been given a lot. I don’t expect anybody to support me because of who my father was. I intend to earn it.”                Continue reading

#FaqMP Aboriginal Affairs Committee Question

Kyle Seeback who is a member of the Federal Government Aboriginal Affairs Committee will be on FaqMP. I was asked to submit a question for the show on Twitter so I did on behalf of the Eastern Woodland Métis Nation and the next generation of young entrepreneurs.

“The current Aboriginal Business Canada funding process takes to long to reach the entrepreneur”

How will the government help ensure this is rectified?”

I am really looking forward to hearing the response to this question and thank #FAQMP for taking the initiative to reach out.
